Washington's Recreation Region
Within a stone's throw of the Village at Roslyn Ridge lies an array of activities: Downhill ski resorts; whitewater rafting; the Yakima River, Washington's only blue-ribbon trout stream. Or, if you're in the mood for something more civilized, there's Washington's rapidly growing Wine Country, world-class concerts at The Gorge Amphitheater and countless small, historic mining and agricultural towns to explore like Roslyn, Cle Elum, and Ellensburg. It all adds up to days of fun and terrific memories.
Roslyn
The historic town of Roslyn was once the largest coal mining town in Washington, and earned national attention as the location for the TV series Northern Exposure. Charming, eclectic - waiting for you to explore every nook and cranny.
The local Roslyn Cafe provides a wonderful place to visit with friends, or sit and read, while enjoying a delicious cup of soup or one of their many fabulous sandwiches or entrées... and don't miss their amazing Sunday brunch.
Cle Elum
Cle Elum means "swift water" in Native American. Cle Elum is home to fine restaurants and pubs, banks and supermarkets.
Alpine Lakes Region
The Alpine Lakes Region encompasses hundreds of glacier-fed streams and lakes. One of the most breathtaking and easily accessible is Cooper Lake; enjoy a hike, picnic or paddle around the lake. Just past Ronald on Salmon la Sac Road, turn right just past the Cle Elum River bridge. The Cooper Lake trail head is 1/2 mile ahead.
Leavenworth
Picturesque Leavenworth is only an hour away. A Bavarian village; locals in lederhosen, polka music floating through the air, and deliciously authentic German cuisine. Numerous festivals year-round; live outdoor summer entertainment and one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations, amazing colorful fall foliage.
The Gorge
An hour east of the Village, the Gorge's arid climate has vast foothills with sunsets that go on forever, and provides a stunning backdrop for the Gorge Amphitheatre. Great water sport activities like wind sailing, jet skiing, and water skiing on the Columbia River.
Snoqualmie Pass Skiing
Just 30 minutes from the Village, Snoqualmie Pass offers a broad range of outdoor activities. In winter, enjoy a playground of ski slopes, cross country trails and snowboard parks. Summer hosts mountain bikers and hikers looking for challenging terrain and breathtaking views.
Washington Wine Country
Washington wines are making a name for themselves. One of North America's premier wine growing regions, the Columbia Valley has dozens of premium wineries. Enjoy special events in both summer and fall.
Ellensburg
40 minutes east, Ellensburg is host to a multitude of fun events and festivities. Go back to a simpler time at the nationally known Ellensburg Rodeo, which has earned its place as one of America's Top 25 professional rodeos. Preview films from up and coming film makers at the annual Ellensburg Film Festival.
